Well known Heberle

Hans Heberle

 

Hans Heberle attended school before starting an apprenticeship at the age of 14. A farmer and cobbler by trade, he worked a small farm in Neenstetten, 16km north-east of Ulm. His book �Zeytregister, is an account of noteworthy events and suffering during his life, notably during the Thirty Years War (1618-1648). He witnessed and wrote about the comet of 1618 and arrival of Gustav Adolf�s Swedish army in 1630. He recorded in his diary that he had to flee from his home on 30 separate occasions in the 1630s. His book records his own experiences and those of people he spoke with directly or he heard about from the news media of those times. He and his wife suffered hunger, death, and exile, and the deaths of 7 children. His parents, 4 siblings and 2 of his 10 children died in the great plague of 1634-35.
