John Heberle, 92, of Great Falls, Mont., died of natural causes Friday, Feb. 21, 1997, at a Great Falls nursing home.
John was born April 22, 1904, at Hillsview near Eureka, S.D. He attended school at Mound City, S.D. On June 7, 1931, he married Bertha Merkel at Linton. They farmed in the Temvik area until 1936 when they moved to Missoula, Mont.
John worked at the Bonner Lumber Co. near Missoula from 1939 to 1969.
John and Bertha moved to Great Falls, Mont. in 1989. John entered a Great Falls nursing home in 1996.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Hillgate Mineral Society of Missoula. John and his wife were avid rockhounds and they attended rock shows where they were honored for their unusual collections of rocks, mineral and hand made jewelry.
Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law, Norman and Martha Heberle and Greg Heberle, all of Great Falls; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, an infant son and a daughter, Lorraine.
Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 24, 1997, at the Chapel of Chimes Funeral Home at Great Falls, Mont. With Rev. David Burt officiating.
Burial was in Highland Cemetery in Great Falls, Mont.
