HAVERKAMP, Harlow

Harlow "Hank" Haverkamp, 67, Mandan, died May 8, 1997, in the New Salem nursing home where he had been a resident for one year. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Lutheran Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Richard Hagestuen officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery, with military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Visitation will be 1-9 p.m. Sunday at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan.

Harlow was born Jan. 31, 1930, at Ogema, Minn., the son of Herman and Mary (Cluckey) Haverkamp. He was raised and educated in Ogema. Harlow moved to North Dakota in 1950. On Nov. 18, 1951, he married Lillian Brunmeier in Zap. Harlow was employed as a control room operator for Heskett Power Station in Mandan from 1957 to 1988. Harlow served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1957 and later joined the U.S. Army Reserves, serving until 1960. He had been a resident of Mandan since 1953.

He was a former member of American Legion, Moose, Eagles and VFW.

He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Harriet and Michael Booke, Huntington Beach, Calif., and Donna and Jim Mellmer, Mandan; four grandchildren, Chris and Sarah Booke, and Erin and Jason Mellmer; three brothers, Willie, Minneapolis, Arthur, Hibbing, Minn., and Ervin, Detroit Lakes, Minn.; and six sisters, Ora Peterson, Fargo, Marie Heinen and Mildred Brandt, both of Detroit Lakes, Evie DeVoe, Polson, Mont., Rita Brekke, Elbow Lake, Minn., and Joy Ann Jerdee, Minneapolis.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lillian, who died March 31, 1989; two brothers, Ivan and Larry; and one sister, Melverna.

She is survived by four sisters, Elsie Darr, Washburn, Sarah Kleinschmidt, Bismarck, Esther Nathan, Denver, and Viola Peterson, Fargo.

Frieda Pagel, 75, of Stockton, Calif

Frieda (Heberle) Pagel, 75, of Stockton, Calif., died Thursday afternoon, Nov. 19, 1968, at her home after a battle with cancer.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Stockton Lutheran Church.

Frieda Pagel, 74, of Stockton, Calif.

Frieda Pagel, 74, of Stockton, Ca. died Thursday, Nov. 19, 1998.

Frieda was born May 10, 1924, on a farm near Herreid, S.D., to Fred and Rosina (Schuler) Heberle. The moved to a farm west of Hazelton when she was 5 years old, then to a farm northwest of Linton when she was 11 where she attended rural school north of Linton on U.S. Highway 83. She graduated from Linton High School. She attended BJC for one year then moved to Lodi, Calif., where she worked and attended night classes to obtain her teaching certificate. She was married to Albert Stoller, then to Virgil Pagel who preceded her in death. She was a teacher and retired after working 22 years for Stockton Unified School District.

She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Tau Chapter, a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Delta Poppy China Painters, Par Tee Niners Golf Group, President of Venetian Village Homeowner's Association, Secretary
of Venetian Village Homeowner's Association, Stockton Teachers Association and California Retired Teachers Association.

Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Burton of Bel Air, Md., and Linda Olson of Choteau, Mont.; two sons, Robert Stoller of Burnsville, Minn., and Steven Stoller of North Beach, Md.; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters, Irene Will of Linton and Emma Streyle of Leeds, and one brother, Edwin Heberle, of Vacaville, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, step-son, Rocky Pagel, and brother, Edward.

Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 23, 1998, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Stockton with Pastor Jim Russow officiating.

Casketbearers were Robert Stoller, Edwin Heberle, Thomas Burton, Steven Stoller, Tom Burton Sr., Jamie Burton and Dale Streyle.

Honorary casketbearers were Ron Heberle, Fred Heberle and Tim Thompson.

Burial was in Cherokee Memorial Park under the direction of De Young Shoreline Chapel in Stockton.

John Heberle, 92, of Great Falls, Mont., died of natural causes Friday, Feb. 21, 1997, at a Great Falls nursing home.

John was born April 22, 1904, at Hillsview near Eureka, S.D. He attended school at Mound City, S.D. On June 7, 1931, he married Bertha Merkel at Linton. They farmed in the Temvik area until 1936 when they moved to Missoula, Mont. John worked at the Bonner Lumber Co. near Missoula from 1939 to 1969.
John and Bertha moved to Great Falls, Mont. in 1989. John entered a Great Falls nursing home in 1996.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Hillgate Mineral Society of Missoula. John and his wife were avid rockhounds and they attended rock shows where they were honored For their unusual collections of rocks, mineral and hand made jewelry.

Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law, Norman and Martha Heberle and Greg Heberle, all of Great Falls; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, an infant son and a daughter, Lorraine.

Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 24, 1997, at the Chapel of Chimes Funeral Home at Great Falls, Mont. with Rev. David Burt officiating.

Burial was in Highland Cemetery in Great Falls, Mont.
