Retired
as accountant for Bucyrus International
Paul J. Heberle, 77, of Erie died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001, at Saint
Vincent Health Center.
He was born Jan. 3, 1924, in Erie, son of the late John and Bertha Weber
Heberle.
He worked as an accountant for Bucyrus International Inc., retiring after 41
years.
He graduated from Academy High School in 1941 and attended the College of
William & Mary in Williamsburg, Va., where he participated in the U.S. Army
Specialized Training Program.
He served as a rifleman with the U.S. Army infantry during World War II. He
served in North Africa and Europe and received various medals, including the
Purple Heart and the Jubilee of Liberty in 1999.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Siebenbuerger Club.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Norma Green Heberle; four daughters,
Christine McGarvey and her husband, Gary, of Columbus, Ohio, Karen Pilewski and
her husband, James, of Eastlake, Ohio, and Connie Adamaszek and Mary Szpara and
her husband, Casimir, all of Erie; three sons, Kenneth Heberle and his wife,
Brenda, of Botkins, Ohio, Kevin Heberle and his wife, DeeDee, of Alamogordo,
N.M., and Craig Heberle and his wife, Kim, of Conneaut Lake; two sisters, Doris
Dresbach of Erie and Rosemarie Niebling of Michigan; a brother, Lawrence
Heberle of Erie; 19 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces
and nephews.
Friends may call Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Burton Wintergreen
Funeral Home, 4940 Koehler Road. A service will be held there Friday at 10:15
a.m., followed by Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Burial will be private.

Homer H. Heberle
Was toolmaker at Reed Manufacturing Co.
Homer H. Heberle, 82, formerly of 3407 Charlotte St., and of Winter Haven,
Fla., died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2001, at Saint Mary's Home of Erie.
He was born Oct. 11, 1918, in Erie, son of the late William and Antoinette
Schwab Heberle.
He was employed as a toolmaker at Reed Manufacturing Co. for 41 years, retiring
in 1982.
He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and the Reed Manufacturing
Quarter Century Club. He was a golfer and bowler.
He was preceded in death by a son, Richard L. Heberle, in 1978; and three
brothers, Robert, Harry and Delmore Heberle.
Survivors include his wife, Winifred Fromknecht Heberle; two sons, William
Heberle and his wife, Mary Beth, of Lake City, and Kenneth Heberle and his
wife, Kelly, of Erie; three daughters, Lois Liotta and her husband, Michael, of
Macon, Ga., Carol Eller and her husband, William, and Barbara Albert and her
husband, Jeffery, all of Erie; nine grandchildren, Richard Heberle Jr., Steven
Liotta, Peggy Golden, Timothy and Amy Eller, Alison, Rebecca and Nathan Albert,
and Nicholas Heberle; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call today from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Russell C. Schmidt
& Son Funeral Home, 2926 Pine Ave., and attend a service there Saturday at
8:45 a.m., followed at 9:30 by a Mass of Christian Burial at Blessed Sacrament
Church.
Burial will be at Trinity Cemetery.

S. Catherine Heberle
Retired from U.S. Department of Agriculture
S. Catherine Heberle, 98, of Tamarac, Fla., formerly of Erie, died Sunday, June
24, 2001.
She was born March 5, 1903, daughter of the late Jacob and Barbara Bader
Heberle.
She worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, retiring in 1965. She was
honored for her work by the Secretary of Agriculture.
She was preceded in death by five sisters, Katharine Ann Streeter, Mary
Magdalene DelPorto, Susan Chimenti, Margaret Mary Pittman and Helen Caroline
Sopp; and four brothers, Frank, John Peter, Fred Joseph and William Heberle.
Survivors include a great-niece, Helen Hill and her husband, David, of Tamarac.
Friends may call today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Francis V. Kloecker Funeral
Home, 2502 Sassafras St. A service will be held there Wednesday at 9:30 a.m.,
followed at 10 by a Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 147 W. 24th St.,
officiated by the Rev. Dennis Martin.
Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
Mary Ann Hetzel
Was a former Erie resident
SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Mary Ann Hetzel, 90, 412 Ransdell Drive, Spartanburg, died
Thursday, March 8, 2001, at Mary Black Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Erie Jan. 14, 1911, daughter of the late Frank and Eleanora
Kohler Heberle.
She was a member of South Hills Baptist Church in Erie and attended Spartanburg
First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mathew H. Hetzel.
Survivors include three sons, Ronald Hetzel of Greensboro, N.C., David Hetzel
of Vincentown, N.J., and Gerald Hetzel, at home; a sister, Bernetta Marchini of
Erie; six grandchildren, including Ronald Hetzel Jr., whom she raised; and five
great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg,
Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. A service will be held there Monday at 11 a.m.,
officiated by the Rev. Robert C. Morgan.
Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements are being handled by J.F. Floyd Mortuary, Spartanburg.
