Dr. Rene Heberle came to the University of Toledo in 1997. She has since developed a broad repertoire of classes and seminars in the subfield of Political Theory and Feminist Theory. She is also active with the Women's and Gender Studies Department and the Program in Law and Social Thought. Her research interests are primarily in feminist theory, though recently she has published articles about women and the law. Because she is interested in issues related to sexual and gendered forms of violence, her research is necessarily interdisciplinary in nature. She is currently working on an edited volume of feminist interpretations of German philosopher Theodor Adorno.

She has been active with the Eberly Center for Women and participated in the Domestic Violence Task Force of Lucas County.
