Overview
Co-founder
and co-author of the Intouch system, Chris leads the software development team.
His main role is research and coding of Intouch applications. Chris is renowned
for mass producing software applications which he humbly puts down to the
ability to cut and paste his code.
Career History
After
graduating with the highest academic average of the class of '82 at Mt Beauty
High School Chris commenced a degree in computer science and focussed his
sporting career on cross country skiing. Having already attained Australian
National Champion for 9 consecutive years, his sporting career was on an
international scale spending northern winters competing on the International
cross country circuit.
He competed at the World
Championships, World Cup and Olympic Games and attained the best-ever Olympic
result for an Australian in cross country skiing at the 1988 Calgary Winter
Olympics.
During his years as a
skier he refined his computer skills by designing and building race timing
systems, "raising the bar" on the quality of ski races in
Australia.
With a degree in computer
science from the Australian National University Chris funded his sporting
career with contract programming and providing business services in Mt. Beauty
and Falls Creek. Implementing hardware and software solutions in an environment
where the PC was just beginning to mature and become available to smaller
businesses.
In 1991 Chris met Klaas
Sybranda, who shared a mutual interest in business systems development. Talking
about the right development tools and comparing programming notes led to the
development of a POS system for a restaurant owned by Klaas.
By 1994 the success of
this casual collaboration led to the formation of Intouch Technology and a
contract to develop and install a ticketing system at Falls Creek Ski Resort,
Victoria, Australia.
Chris has been
programming since the first personal computers hit the streets - learning
assembly language with schoolfriend David Chamberlain on
the original Apple II in 1979.

Patrol for many years. He also built many of the lodges and buildings at Falls
Creek and apartments and homes in Myrtleford and Mt Beauty.
